Why Are We Giving Away Free Software?

The dynaTrace AJAX Edition is free for two reasons:

• Developers and testers everywhere are struggling with their existing tools to make AJAX applications perform well, and we thought we could help solve the problem and raise the profile of our company in the process. If we build a great, free product that helps thousands of people solve tough AJAX performance problems more quickly and effectively than anything else out there, then we hope they’ll remember our name.
• We want people to buy more of the software that we do charge money for. The free dynaTrace AJAX Edition integrates with our commercial editions to deliver an end-to-end, browser-to-server transaction-centric APM system that offers best-in-class diagnostic depth. Some server-side performance issues are most effectively solved by incorporating the user interactions and browser code execution path which initiated the problem.

Will dynaTrace AJAX Edition stay free?
